Fabulamundi
Fabulamundi. Playwriting Europe is a project based on cooperation between theatres, festivals and cultural organisations from five European countries (Germany, Spain, France, Italy and Romania). Its objectives are:
- To promote European playwriting and give support to the work of contemporary theatre writers in all countries by circulating plays, implementing artist-in-residence schemes and producing shows or performances based on translated texts.
- To give support to those cultural organisations involved that organise artist-in-residence schemes and productions, with special emphasis on audience-development actions.
- To encourage information exchanges in the sector, providing professionals and artists with online tools to support the circulating of works, plus the implementation of an online catalogue of authors and works.
The current edition of Fabulamundi takes place between May 2015 and November 2016, with support from the European Union’s Creative Europe programme. Under the theme “Crossing generations”, participating theatres and institutions will organise productions of plays for theatre, staged readings of works, artist-in-residence schemes for playwrights, workshops and talks open to the public, among other activities. During the 2015-2016 season, the Sala Beckett/Obrador Internacional de Dramatúrgia will organise three staged readings by playwrights proposed by the other countries, accompanied by an artist-in-residence scheme for their corresponding authors. At the same time, it will make available for other project members works by 12 Catalan and Spanish authors: Marta Buchaca, Jordi Casanovas, Guillem Clua, Llàtzer Garcia, Josep Maria Miró, Pau Miró, Pablo Messiez, Alfredo Sanzol, Mercè Sarrias, Victoria Szpunberg, Antonio Tabares and Paco Zarzoso.
