“Never play to the gallery” – D. Bowie
Unconditional love gives and does not hold back. Why should we hold anything back when telling a story? Because of rules?
“Go a little bit out of your depth. And when you don’t feel that your feet are quite touching the bottom, you’re just about in the right place to do something exciting” – D. Bowie (…again, I know, it’s just too good!)
If the voice in your head says it, it has a right to be on paper. If it’s riddled, a repetition, a rhyme, a fragment, a raw emotion or an anecdote, fine. Find out why it suddenly appeared on that page in front of you and follow that lead. See where it takes you.
In this workshop we will try a dramatic approach to radical writing, an intersectional-feminist practice that explores storytelling outside of patriarchal structures and the expectations of “the gallery”. We will write theatre that is poetic and political, free and crystal-clear in its messages – for those willing to listen.
Participants will start working on a new text. Beginners are welcome as well as experienced writers. This will be a group experience as well an individual journey, all in a safe space. I will also bring some of my writing. We will talk, a lot. And write. And read. And rewrite.
