Roger Torns is an actor, author and director. He graduated in Directing and Playwriting from the Institut del Teatre and holds a diploma in the Performing Arts from the La Casona school. He continued training as an actor with people such as Santiago Zannou, Muntsa Alcañiz, Luci Lenox, Julio Manrique and Andrés Lima. He has participated in playwriting workshops at the Obrador de la Sala Beckett with Pau Miró, Helena Tornero, Jordi Oriol and José Sanchis Sinisterra.
As a director and playwright he has premiered Tinguem un fill, La festa de les cadires, Com si mitja taronja gegant se m’estigués pixant a sobre, Soliloquejar amb algú and Tres Bèsties. As an actor he has worked in the shows 1 altre musical, Night Club Bilderberg and Generació de merda, written and directed by Xavi Morató, La Infanta terrible y su séquito real by the La Santa collective, La noche de los asesinos directed by Gerard Nicasi, Woyzeck Caducat directed by himself, Escape Show directed by Ivan Tápia and Alicia Serrat, Urinetown directed by Joan Maria Segura and he also collaborated in El agitador Vòrtex by Cristina Blanco.
In the audiovisual sphere he has participated as an actor in the film Barcelona 92 by Ferran Ureña and in the short films Ahora no puedo directed by Roser Aguilar (Gaudí Prize for the best short film 2011) and Cargols directed by Geoffrey Cowper. He is a teacher at the Central de Teatre school where he teaches on the history and theory of theatre. He has also taught playwriting classes to pupils on the ESART bacclaureate.
He has participated as dramaturgy assistant in Safari Pitarra by Jordi Oriol and Josep Pedrals at the TNC, and has been assistant director to Marilia Samper and to Llàtzer Garcia for different productions. His text Soliloquejar amb algú was selected by the Obrador de la Sala Beckett and by the SGAE for its translation into English.
